 मार्च २०२० मध्ये जागतिक आरोग्य संघटनेने कोविड झालेल्या रुग्णांच्या मानसिक आरोग्याबद्दल नियमावली करण्याचे आवाहन सर्वच देशांच्या आरोग्य यंत्रणेला केले होते. यामध्ये विकसित देशांनी काही प्रमाणात नवीन नियमावली करून अनेक कोविड रुग्णांच्या आत्महत्या रोखल्या.  दुर्दैवाने गरीब आणि विकसनशील देशांनी याकडे साफ दुर्लक्ष केले. तसेच कोविडमधून बरे झालेल्या लोकांच्या आत्महत्येची देखरेख प्रणालीसुद्धा राबवली नाही. त्यामुळे नक्की या देशांमध्ये किती प्रमाणात आत्महत्या झालेल्या आहेत किंवा किती लोकांची मानसिक स्थिती बिघडली आहे. याची फारच कमी माहिती उपलब्ध आहे. कोविडमधून बरे झालेल्यानाच नाही तर कोविड रुग्णांवर उपचार करणाऱ्या डॉक्टर, नर्सेस आणि इतर आरोग्य कर्मचाऱ्यांनीसुद्धा मानसिक स्थिती बिघडल्यामुळे आत्महत्या केल्या आहेत. याचे मुख्य कारण कामाचा तणाव, रात्रंदिवस रुग्णांची करावी लागणारी सेवा आणि उपचार करूनसुद्धा डोळ्यासमोर रोजच्या रोज दगावणारे कोविडचे रुग्ण. अशा प्रकारच्या स्थितीला आरोग्य कर्मचाऱ्यांना आणि डॉक्टरांना सामोरे जावे लागत आहे. त्यामुळे सुद्धा त्यांचे मानसिक संतुलन बिघडत आहे.   ...
